Historical Development The company Silciumbearbeitung Andrea Holm was founded in 1988 and deals with the mechanical adaption of silicon, cermamics and quartz. Dr. Claus Holm has been working with these materials for more than 30 years. This activity started out with conferring a doctorate about the subjets of the high temperature chemistry of silicon in conection with the photovoltaik-research program of the copmapny Wacker Helitronic in 1977. The chemical gas transportation of silicon with calkogens was the subjet of this dissertation. This was also the logical starting situation for the mecanical working, since the sensitivity of the chemical potential gradient requires exect experimental assumptions. When this project was over, Dr. Holm started his own business. Since then our main interest is to improve our employes, who are our main capital. The machinery is being continuously enlarged and modernized. We are an internationl business and also do self research work, for once in the field of mechanical working and also in solid silicon chemistry. In the field of mechanic we want to develop and produce new products in the near futuer. Main interests come form the semi condactor industry, that always needs better and better qualities for the development and production of new constructions elements. In conections with this is the providing of safe working places for young people, who might be interested in a practical course to get an inside view on this wide field of silicon. Therefore we are trying to get in conection with students from Fachhochschulen who study in the field of mechanical engineering or other similar classes.
